Mobile Phones To use a mobile phone in France it needs to be set to "Roaming Enabled" by your phone supplier. This feature is usually available if you have a contract and a good credit rating. The phone will "tune itself" in to the local networks whenever you switch on. At peak rates calls from Europe to the UK cost about 70p per minute, just enough to get a weather check, but a costly chat with Auntie.
