Cherbourg Cherbourg has little to recommend it except that it is due south of Southampton. This means crossing danger area D036 so call Plymouth Military Radar as soon as possible after leaving Solent. Have a diversion via Ortac planned and take care to avoid the Cherbourg military SRAs. Cherbourg is however a superb start to a trip along the Normandy Invasion Beaches, the starting point for the liberation of Europe. Click here for a guided tour of "The Beaches" .

Entry to the terminal is via the left hand door in the terminal building labelled arrivals. Departures also go from this door!

Luc will put you on his e-mail circulation for free) will take any currency, guide you to the loo which is hidden in the basement and operate the electronic lock to let you back to your aeroplane if everyone else has gone home.
